Challenge
Building with CLT by water and through the seasons
Ripple Residence in Nordhavn, Copenhagen, is a forward-thinking construction designed by Henning Larsen, built by NREP and 5e-byg.
Its waterfront location is stunning, but demanding. Moisture, shifting weather and coastal humidity demand constant attention, especially when a project is using prefabricated CLT and upcycled materials that simply can’t be reorded. Ripple Residence repurposed materials from the iconic Bruun Rasmussen building, concrete, timber, tiles, and fittings to create a functional and sustainable new space. Traditional moisture spot checks couldn’t offer the reassurance needed. The team needed a way to continuously monitor conditions, document data clearly, and keep the structure safe without slowing progress.
Solution
Continuous moisture control
Tector’s system was installed in all critical areas, giving the team a continuous, real-time view of moisture, temperature, and humidity. This approach made moisture management part of the natural workflow and not an interruption.
Alongside Tector’s monitoring, the team also used a full site cover to protect materials from the weather. This combination strengthened their overall site control, ensuring every material stayed protected from both the environment and hidden moisture risks.
With real-time data, the team could:
